Heard learned counsel for the petitioner; learned AGA for respondents 1, 2 and 3; and perused the record.
The instant petition has been filed against the order dated 21st October, 2019, by which the stay application of the petitioner against externment order has been rejected by the second respondent and 4th December, 2019 has been fixed for deciding the appeal.
The contention of learned counsel for the petitioner is that the externment order is operative for six months only and therefore if the stay application is not allowed, the appeal itself would be rendered infructuous.
Without expressing any opinion on the merit of the externment order, we deem it appropriate to dispose of this petition by providing that the second respondent (Commissioner, Jhansi Division, Jhansi) shall endeavour to decide the appeal itself expeditiously, preferably, within a period of three weeks from the date of furnishing certified copy of this order in his office.
With the aforesaid direction, the petition stands disposed off.
