Heard learned counsel for the petitioner; learned Assistant Solicitor General of India for the respondents 1 and 2; and the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent no.3.
The instant petition seeks a direction upon the second respondent to renew license for sale of fire crackers granted to the petitioner.
According to the petitioner, he has applied for renewal of the said licence and has also deposited the requisite licence fee through demand draft dated 01.02.2019, which has not yet been decided. He has thus prayed that a direction be issued to the respondents to decide the renewal application.
Considering the nature of the prayer made, without expressing any opinion as regards the entitlement of the petitioner to seek for renewal of the licence, we deem it appropriate to dispose off this petition by providing that the concerned authority shall endeavour to take a final decision on the licence renewal application, preferably, within four weeks from the date a certified copy of this order is furnished in its office, provided necessary formalities for seeking renewal have been completed.
